Nonprofits

Who We Help

We work with nonprofit organizations that need help getting more from their board members when it comes to fundraising and friendraising.

Our clients understand that their Board of Directors is one of their most valuable assets. These are successful, savvy, and well-connected individuals and nonprofits need to be able to rely on their boards to help raise the critical support they need to accomplish their mission.

The challenge is that most nonprofits work really hard to recruit board members, set expectations, and hold their boards accountable for raising the support they need to accomplish their mission. Board members know what is expected of them but they most often lack the knowledge and skills they need to be comfortable and successful Ambassadors on behalf of the organization. They are typically uneasy when it comes to talking about money, and reluctant to share their cherished personal and professional contacts because they don’t know what the donor experience is going to be like. In short, they know what they ought to be doing as friendraising Ambassadors, but they don’t know how to go about it. Nonprofits need to help their board members get more comfortable with the tasks they ask their board members to perform, or the result will be less impact in achieving the organization’s mission.

How We Help

Our Ambassador Excellence programs help nonprofits provide board members the fresh perspectives, knowledge and skills they need to be more impactful as Ambassadors on behalf of their organizations.

We help board members think about their roles differently. It’s no longer about asking for money. It’s about inviting potential donors and supporters to join hands in pursuit of the organization’s mission – to be a part of something inspiring and worthwhile and impactful.

Outcomes We Deliver

Board members enjoy an experience that bonds them to each other, fosters their personal and professional skills and inspires them as they fulfill their roles as fundraisers, public advocates and in mission delivery. Our clients, the nonprofits we serve, get highly energized and effective board members and an inspired group of motivated Ambassadors.

Companies

Who We Help

We work with companies of all sizes looking to differentiate themselves in the hearts and minds of their employees and customers through their interactions with their communities.

Our clients understand that unique and innovative corporate citizenship programs are an essential facet of their brand, helping to recruit and retain employees, and to attract customers. They know that by continually providing fresh and compelling programs they are able to contribute directly to the company’s bottom line.

The challenge is that stakeholder expectations in this area continue to rise exponentially. Employees, customers and investors all watch closely and they all know when a company really cares. How a company behaves has become an important and highly visible facet of a company’s brand. The typical employee engagement programs of the past are no longer enough.

How We Help

Our Hands On! Philanthropy programs help companies engage employees, build teams, foster professional and personal skills, and in turn boost the impact of their corporate citizenship programs.

We bring participants together and guide them as they clarify and articulate their philanthropic values, passions and vision. They then use that clarity to put a purposeful plan of action in place to honor those values and maximize the impact they can make in the community. The program provides the tools, structure, and skills needed to work collaboratively to identify, evaluate, and connect with nonprofits that share their values and vision. The workshop typically concludes with employees inviting the nonprofits, company leadership, and the press to be part of a celebration where employees either present a grant check or offer to volunteer their time with the nonprofits they have chosen to support.

Outcomes We Deliver

Employees enjoy an experience that fosters their personal and professional skills, builds their dedication to the company they work for, and makes a huge impact in the community. The companies and giving organizations we serve get great press and social media coverage, highly energized and productive employees, and an inspired new group of brand ambassadors.

Advisors

Who We Help

We work with wealth advisors that are looking to differentiate themselves in order to attract and retain clients (and their assets) in today’s increasingly commoditized market.

Our clients understand that key to their long-term success is in becoming their clients “most trusted advisor” and retaining client assets over the long haul and through generational transitions. They know that they have to build deeper, more resilient relationships.

The challenge is that many advisors have relationships that begin and end with the primary wealth creator. In well over 80% of the cases, when that client passes and the assets flow to the spouse or children, those assets end up being managed by someone else. Savvy advisors look to leverage philanthropy to include more members of the family in deeper, more meaningful discussions and to solidify their roles as their clients’ most trusted advisor. Unfortunately, most advisors lack either the inclination or expertise needed to be comfortable facilitating these conversations.

How We Help

Our 3D Relationships programs help wealth advisors engage their clients in broader, deeper, multi-generational conversations centered on philanthropy and legacy. This helps build the more resilient relationships they need to sustain the growth of their businesses.

We bring participants together and guide them as they clarify and articulate their philanthropic values, passions and vision. They then use that clarity to put a purposeful plan of action in place to honor those values and maximize the impact they can make in the community. We encourage participants to think differently about their wealth and the role philanthropy can play in helping to craft family traditions and legacy. Participants are introduced to the concept of purposeful philanthropy, and how an intentional, well thought out approach to giving can lead to greater impact. This is really the same concept behind working with a financial planner on a well thought out financial plan.

Outcomes We Deliver

Advisors leverage the philanthropic conversation to forge and deepen multi-generational relationships with their clients, while differentiating their brand in an increasingly commoditized market.  Their clients enjoy an educational and thought provoking experience that brings generations together and inspires them as they build family traditions, find their unique philanthropic voices, and craft a lasting legacy.

Individuals and Families

Who We help

We work with individuals and families who are looking to make difference in their communities and proactively craft their legacies by adopting a purposeful, intentional approach to their philanthropy.

Our clients understand, first and foremost, that philanthropy is not just about giving away money. And they understand that their legacies are the stories they create, every day of their lives, as they choose how they’ll share the values, passions and visions they hold dear with those around them. Finally, our clients know that giving feels good, and when done with purpose and intention, it can impact them and their families just as much or more than it does the recipient.

The challenge is that most individuals and families already give – whether it’s to their house of worship, the university they attended, community organizations, or fundraising projects in their children’s schools - but they do so without taking the time to think about the world they would like to help create. Most people are accustomed to working with an array of financial and legal advisors to carefully accumulate, protect, and investing our financial assets, but they struggle to apply these same planning principals when it comes to managing the returns they get when they invest their time, talent and money in support of their communities.

How We Help

Our Family Philanthropy Roadmap programs provide individuals and families the fresh perspectives, knowledge and skills they need to be more impactful when it comes to their giving.

We bring individuals and their families together and guide them as they clarify and articulate their philanthropic values, passions and vision. They then use that clarity to put a purposeful plan of action in place to honor those values and maximize the impact they can make in the community. We encourage our clients to think differently about their wealth and the role philanthropy can play in helping to craft family traditions and legacy. Our clients are introduced to the concept of purposeful philanthropy, and how an intentional, well thought out approach to giving can lead to greater impact.

Outcomes We Deliver

Our clients learn that philanthropy is not all about money. They enjoy an educational and thought provoking experience that brings generations together and inspires them as they build family traditions, find their unique philanthropic voices, and craft a lasting legacy. Ultimately, our clients learn how to appreciate and teach their heirs the difference between valuables and values; between making a living and making a life; and between success and significance.

Please note: We do not manage assets or provide legal or financial advice.  Nor do we sell or receive any compensation from the sale of financial or legal products.  We are, however, happy to collaborate with your existing financial, legal or tax advisors as appropriate.

Community Foundations

Who We Help

We work with community foundations that want to provide more compelling donor programming in order to attract and retain donors in an increasingly competitive market.

Our clients realize that fresh and compelling programs help to attract and retain donors and fortify the community foundation’s unique position as a hub of the community’s philanthropic network. They know that they need to provide donors with unique and innovative opportunities to develop their philanthropic knowledge and skills and make their philanthropy more purposeful. And our clients understand that these compelling donor engagement programs are an essential facet of their brand.

The good news is that Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) are becoming more popular, but the challenge is that they are being offered by an increasing number of financial services companies and other commercial charitable gift funds. In addition, donor expectations are rising. Donors are increasingly proactive with their philanthropy and they expect services that not only help them give, but that also inform and educate them on how to be more strategic. On top of all of that, the need for nonprofit services in our communities is growing, while nonprofits struggle under the financial strains due to significant changes in the social, economic, and political landscape.

How We Help

Our Hands On! Philanthropy programs help community foundations build deeper, multi-generational relationships with their donors, and further differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive environment.

We bring participants together and guide them as they clarify and articulate their philanthropic values, passions and vision. They then use that clarity to put a purposeful plan of action in place to honor those values and maximize the impact they can make in the community. We encourage donors to think differently about their wealth and the role philanthropy can play in helping to craft family traditions and legacy. Donors are introduced to the concept of purposeful philanthropy, and how an intentional, well thought out approach to giving can lead to greater impact.

Outcomes We Deliver

Community Foundations are able to complement and enhance existing donor services and solidify their roles as the hub for community philanthropy. Donors learn about the power of purposeful philanthropy and build their philanthropic skills while making a profound and lasting impact in their communities. The nonprofits the program touches receive an investment in their mission and participate as an integral part of the program.

Schools and Community Service Organizations

Who We Help

We work with campus organizations that that want to provide innovative and compelling community service programs in order to attract and engage more students.

Our clients understand that one of the most powerful tools campus organizations have for attracting new students is their community service programming. Today’s students understand the value of giving back and they want to make an impact. They seek out experiences that help build skills and strengthen their resumes, adding a fresh, distinctive, new facet to their personal brands.

The challenge is that the typical community service programs of the past are no longer enough. They no longer serve to differentiate the organizations that sponsor them. And they do little to set students apart from their peers as they look stand out in the eyes of potential employers. Organizations need to provide innovative and unique options if they want to set themselves apart in the hearts and minds of the students they are looking to attract.

How We Help

Our Hands On! Philanthropy programs help campus organizations engage students, build relationships, foster professional and personal skills, and in turn boost the impact of their community service programs.

We encourage students to think differently about the assets they have and the role community service can play in helping to craft their personal brands. We bring participants together and guide them as they clarify and articulate their philanthropic values, passions and vision. Students are introduced to the concept of purposeful philanthropy, and how an intentional, well thought out approach to giving can lead to greater impact. In effect, they develop the equivalent of a business plan for their community involvement.

Outcomes We Deliver

Students enjoy an experience that fosters their personal and professional skills, stregthens their dedication to the campus organization they are associated with, and makes a huge and visible impact in the community. The campus organizations we serve get great press and social media coverage, highly energized and engaged members, and an inspired new group of advocates.
